January Recap + Flights of Fantasy Update

Life lately
I survived January! I was both excited and dreading this month. The latter because it meant the end of my two week vacation and the former because I had a lot of fun plans to look forward to. There was driving up to Boston for ALA, the #PassTruth event at Books of Wonder with Susan Dennard and Alex Bracken (two of my favorites), birthdays, bridesmaid dress shopping and the return of The 100. There was also the unexpected snowstorm which ended up being exactly what I needed. A whole weekend of just staying home, reading, watching TV and sleeping in? It was amazing. (That is, until I had to go outside to dig out my car.)

But the other thing about January? I actually semi-kept up with my New Year's goals! I've been paying a lot more attention to my sugar intake (which is usually at a ridiculously high level) and cutting back. I tried to get started with 30 Days of Yoga but only did the beginner video once. It's hard to feel motivated when lately I've been getting home between 7:30-8pm because of work. But hopefully, I can really get into it next month!

Song
"So if you think you're falling apart
And I'm the only one you'll call
If you keep reaching for me in the dark
And can't stand it anymore
Then you just call my name
I will do the same
You can look into my eyes and see
If you've got a broken heart
Then you're just like me"

Our first #FlightsofFantasy update of the year! I'm feeling really good about the challenge. It's nice to see so many of you joining us and personally, I think I'm off to a pretty good start too! I read 3 fantasy books this month: The Hero and the Crown, Reign of Shadows and The Girl from Everywhere (this one is definitely fantasy light but certain elements are there). We also kicked off our book club and will be sharing our thoughts on what we read next month.

How are you all doing on your challenge?

Feel free to link to any of your #FlightsofFantasy updates
or a recent fantasy review in the linky below.
And if you haven't joined the challenge yet, you can sign up here.

  2. I hear you with the exercising! I've been trying to do a bunch of the Blogilates 6 minutes abs / thighs / arms videos when I get home at 7:30 every night because I'm like, well I don't feel like exercising but it's only 6 minutes so how could I not? And then once I get going I usually end up doing a few of them. Maybe that could help you too! Good job cutting your sugar intake. I've been attempting to do the same because my fiance is trying to eat healthy so I feel guilty devouring an entire box of Oreo's in front of him lol!

  3. I love that I'm involved in a lot of the things you did early on in January ;) But seriously, it's been a month of crazy ups and down for me too. I definitely need to work on getting into a better exercise routine. Maybe we should encourage each other to meet that goal!
