October Recap

Life lately
This is my first recap since June! But if I were to recap everything that's happened in my life since July, we'd be here for a very long time. So I'll just stick with October. Life has been a rollercoaster as I adjust to a new "normal". I'm taking it day by day though and there's been some really good days this month. I went apple picking with my cousins and just spent a lot of time with family in general which I feel super grateful for. I also got some much-needed face time with friends, who have been so supportive every step of the way. And lastly, I'm getting some major me-time in (binge watching and reading!) and thinking about plans for the future (pet adoption? travel? both!). I have to say though, what I'm looking forward to the most is November and December aka the holidays. It's just my favorite time of the year, despite the cold, and I can't wait to throw myself into some major planning and making the most of the two staycations I have coming up.

Read but not reviewed
  • Park Avenue Summer by Renee Rosen - 4 stars
This book is described as being "Mad Men meets The Devil Wears Prada" and as someone who was a fan of both, I can attest that it's true. I really liked the main character and watching her figure out what she wanted to do and who she wanted to be.
  • Rebel by Marie Lu - 5 stars
I never, ever expected the Legend series to get a 4th novel and when it was announced, I was 99% excited and 1% worried. This book exceeded all my expectations and was everything I didn't even know I wanted. Being reunited with June and Day was amazing. I loved this so much.
  • The Burning Shadow (Origin, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout - 4.5 stars
This was such a great sequel to The Darkest Star. I'm really impressed by this Lux spin-off JLA created. Even though the original will alway be #1 in my heart, I do genuinely love Luc and Evie and seeing how their story unfolds. Plus the cameos from my favorites don't hurt either!

  1. I'm so glad you enjoyed Park Avenue Summer! And I love the cover for The Burning Shadow... I'm slowly making my way there since I'm listening to Opal at the moment!

  2. I'm glad you're throwing yourself back into life in all its wonderful, terrible glory and making plans for so many exciting future things! I still need to read Rebel (I know, I'm terrible), but I'm super excited (and I still love that cover so dang much).
