January Recap

Life lately
I don't think I've ever said this before but I actually didn't feel like this month flew by! It felt just right, which I kind of want to attribute to my new planner. I've always been pretty good at managing my time but I do feel a lot more deliberate about how I spend my free time, whether it's after work or on the weekend. Things like carving out time for working out, cleaning up more throughout the week instead of saving it all for the weekend, trying not to go out too much (which benefits my stomach and my wallet) and still making sure I get that couch potato time to unwind and watch TV. With February approaching, all I can think about is keeping up that momentum. And counting down until my Iceland trip with Alexa (30 days!).

Read but not reviewed
  • The Idea of You by Robinne Lee - 5 stars; I had this book on hold at the library for months when Estelle gifted it to me for Christmas. And wow, what a book! It shows a woman enjoying her 40s and really owning her wants and needs. It was sexy (!!) but had depth. I can't recommend enough.
  • Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel by Mariah Marsden - 5 stars; The illustrations are so beautiful! If I order prints, I would.
  • Brave (A Wicked Trilogy, #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout - 4 stars; I was in the mood for paranormal romance so I turned to my go-to JLA and as expected, she did not disappoint.
  • In Ruins (Something More, #3) by Danielle Pearl - 4 stars; After reading the 4th book first, I curious about the rest of the series. I really enjoyed In Ruins and I'm going to read the first book next.
  • A Wrinkle in Time: Graphic Novel by Hope Larson - 3 stars; A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books ever and this graphic novel did not do it justice. I just wasn't thrilled with the adaptation overall and even the illustrations didn't wow me.
  • Bad at Love by Karina Halle - 3 stars; I liked it and while I pretty much know what to expect from Karina Halle (and I mean that in a good way!), this felt way too predictable and the conflict trite. But the chemistry was there and the main characters did have a lot of sweet and steamy moments I enjoyed.
