Life lately
November (and December) always fly by and I'm pretty sure it's because it's my favorite time of the year, in spite of the cold weather. I love Thanksgiving and as usual, it was a big family gathering at my parents' house with way too much food and lots of laughs. I did a ton of Christmas shopping during my mini-staycation, which also led to buying presents for myself too. I watched two movies (Crimes of Grindelwald which I enjoyed and Bohemian Rhapsody which I loved), went to bookish events with friends, worked on puzzles and saw my besties. It was busy but also slower month which I definitely needed.

Read but not reviewed
- Someday (Every Day #3) by David Levithan - 3.5 stars; It was slow to start and it went in a direction that I didn't always love but then it turned a corner. But more importantly, I was still drawn to the beautiful message of the book (and series) above all else.
- Bang (Lights and Sirens Book 3) by Ruby McNally - 3 stars; All the books, including this one, got somewhat of a lukewarm response from me. I liked them enough and they're certainly fast reads but I never totally connected with any of the characters.
- Text Me When You Get Home: The Evolution and Triumph of Modern Female Friendship by Kayleen Schaefer - 4 stars; I'm so happy I read this! I don't often read non-fiction but this is a must. If you're still thinking of Christmas gift ideas for your BFF, I highly recommend this.
- How To Walk Away by Katherine Center - 4 stars; Such an interesting story with compelling characters, a complicated family and romance that I enjoyed.
- Raven Flight and The Caller (Shadowfell, #2-3) by Juliet Marillier - 3.5 / 4 stars; I'm glad I took the time to finally finish this series. It's a fantastic story and I loved all the characters but it suffered so much from pacing. I wish it had been a duology instead of even just one very long standalone.
- The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black - 4 stars; I love Holly Black's fascination with faeries and her dark take on them. The Cruel Prince was my introduction to her writing and I'm looking forward to continue reading through her backlog.
- The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo - 4 stars; That mermaid story at the end is everything.
- Goodbye, Paris by Anstey Harris - 3 stars; I liked this book but fell short of my expectations. I loved the secondary characters and the music aspect but I thought a lot was under-developed and lacked the emotional punch it was obviously striving for.

YESSSS. Leigh's mermaid story is my favorite!! I'm also really happy to see that Slayer was your favorite read of the month- I'm planning on getting to that one in December! And I really enjoyed The Darkest Part of the Forest too! I'm hoping to read the Tithe series next year! And I absolutely love your rainbow bookshelf!
