Light Up the Darkness | Series Roulette

I can't believe it's almost here but tomorrow is the release day for Kingdom of Ash, the final book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas! It's both exciting and bittersweet because while I can't wait to find out what will happen next to these beloved characters, saying goodbye is going to be really hard. (I anticipate a lot of tears.) But to help, I'll be celebrating all things Throne of Glass this week with three of my favorite ladies, Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Kelly of Belle of the Literati, and Hannah of So Obsessed With. 

A couple months ago we decided to reread the entire series together as a countdown to the release of Kingdom of Ash. I was super excited about it because even though I've reread my favorite parts from the books many, many, many times (aka all the Rowan and Aelin moments), I'd never reread the whole series in its entirety. I'll get more into my personal feelings on that in a later post but I will say I loved every book just as much, if not more after rereading.  

But now the reread is done and it's time to tell you our feelings on all of it! This week we'll be sharing three posts: a series roulette (today's post about our favorites), twenty questions and a discussion on what the series means to each of us. 

Onto the series roulette!

I knew immediately that Aelin Ashryver Galathynius would be my answer. I know she's the obvious choice given that she's the heart of these books but she's not just my favorite female character in the Throne of Glass series. She's also one of my all-time favorite fictional heroines period. There's no one else quite like her and I will be forever thankful that Sarah J. Maas brought this unforgettable character to life.

Usually, I'm not all "this is my book boyfriend and no one else can have him" but there are two book boys I'm willing to say that about and one of them is Rowan Whitethorn. (Sorry Hannah!) As soon as he showed up in Heir of Fire, I was all hello there and I've continued to love his character more and more with every passing book.

My favorite book in the series (so far!) is Queen of Shadow because it's the one book, at the moment, where the whole gang is together and it really is magical when they are. I can think of a dozen scenes off the top of my head that stand out to me so clearly. When Aedion realizes Aelin is there to save him. When Aelin goes running straight into Rowan's arms in the rain. When she walks out in her little nightgown in front of him (his reaction!). When Aelin and Manon have their epic showdown. When Asterin tells Manon her backstory. When Manon sends Aelin a message about Dorian. When Rowan and Aelin kiss. When Aelin and Dorian join hands. I mean, I literally could go on and on and on.

I chose Celeana's apartment for two reasons. One, it's where most of the funny and swoony scenes between Rowan and Aelin take place. And two, four years ago (!) I did a post recreating Celaena's apartment through mood boards by using the descriptions in Heir of Fire, so I can't help having a soft spot for it.
