All About Audrey: The Facts

It all started on Twitter.

Hannah had done a guest post on her favorite Audrey Hepburn movie, “Two for the Road”, which happens to be my favorite Audrey movie too. You should know now, this is not one of her more well-known movies. So to find another person who considered this a favorite and obviously loved Audrey Hepburn was just amazing. I immediately tweeted her and then minutes later, I emailed and asked: want to collaborate on something Audrey inspired? Hannah enthusiastically agreed, a couple hours later we had a week’s worth of posts planned and our “All About Audrey” event was born.

We’re really excited to share our love and admiration of this iconic actress all week long. And we chose this week specifically because Audrey Hepburn’s birthday is today! It seemed like the perfect time to kick things off. So we hope you’re just as excited as we are to learn about the actress, our favorite movies and more.

I feel like I’ve always admired Audrey Hepburn. My awareness of her began with my dad, who is a huge fan of classics and musicals. So my first Audrey movie was actually My Fair Lady. I want to say I watched that as early as elementary school? But here’s the shocking part — I didn’t watch another Audrey film until college when I saw Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s the most iconic of all her films and while she is her usual beautiful, charming self in it, it wasn't my favorite. But at this point, I was determined to make it through her filmography and it was Roman Holiday that turned me into the fangirl I am today. It’s her breakout role and if you ask me, the best place to start. It’s a great movie that totally stands the test of time. I absolutely adore her in it. I’m still working through her list of films (I’m halfway through!) but my love continues to grow with each one I watch.

>> 5 Reasons Why I'm a Fan

1. It’s often said that Audrey is the icon for grace and elegance and to this day, I still think that’s true. At a time when blonde bombshell types were making their mark, here was Audrey who showed the world an entirely different kind of beauty. She seemed to know exactly who she was and stuck to it.

2. Style. You can’t talk about Audrey and not mention her style. She was all about the little black dresses (and well, all black clothing), flats and just a classic look in general.

3. She stars in one of my all-time favorite movies. “Two For the Road” is a must see film.

4. Her humanitarian efforts. She was a UNICEF ambassador and dedicated the latter part of her life towards helping causes such as these. In addition to being extremely talented, she just had a good heart.

5. This is obvious but she’s a wonderful actress! She infuses so much personality and charm into every role. She has great comedic timing and can also pull out the punches with emotional moments.

  1. I'm so thrilled y'all are collaborating on an event to celebrate Audrey Hepburn! While I'm not too familiar with her filmography, I've always admired Audrey's classic style. It's classy and simple, feminine and beautiful - and I like emulating that when I can. Definitely going to watch Two for the Road and Audrey's other films too!
