Sunday Flashback (8)

Sunday Flashback is a feature where I'll highlight old reviews of books that tend to fly under the radar.
I'll always choose books I've already reviewed and if you happen to love these books too, we can fangirl over them together!

Today, I've chosen:

Playing with Matches by Suri Rosen

I had no idea what to pick for today's Sunday Flashback and as a I scrolled through old reviews, I saw this one. I read and reviewed it back in September for a blog tour. When I was approached to participate, I was hesitant because I had never heard of it and none of my trusted blogger buddies had it on their GoodReads TBRs. But something told me to say yes (it might've had to do with the super cute cover!) and I am so glad I did.

It's about a girl named Raina who is expelled from school and sent to live with her aunt. The one thing keeping Raina is good spirits is that her sister will be visiting soon. But when she does arrive, she finds out that her sister's fiance broke off their engagement and it's Raina's fault somehow. In the middle of this mess, Raina, who comes from a tight-knit Jewish community, inadvertently and successfully sets up a random acquaintance with a family friend. Soon through word of mouth, her "expertise" at matchmaking become known and she's got herself a business. The book is funny and heartwarming and has a lot more to do with family than romance. I really enjoyed this one!

  1. I have yet to check out this book (as I said I would in the comment on the review)! This post has reminded me to go and see if I can snag a copy from the library ;)
