Thirteen Days of Ash & Fire - An Heir of Fire Blog Tour: Day 12

Welcome to my stop along the Thirteen Days of Ash & Fire, Heir of Fire blog tour! We've been celebrating for two weeks now and I can't believe tomorrow is already the last day! All the posts have been so creative and I've loved planned every minute of this tour alongside Alexa, Jaz, Judith and Katie.

If you follow my blog or my Instagram, you know that one of my favorite things to do is decorate my apartment. I almost always have some new little project going on and when I was skimming through Heir of Fire hoping for some inspiration on what to do for my post, I came across the elaborate descriptions of Celaena's apartment. And that's when I got the idea to re-create the different rooms through mood boards.

Decorating your home is such a personal thing! At least, I think it is. It's a reflection of who you are and what you love. One of the characters uses the words comfortable, tasteful and cultured to describe Celaena's apartment. That's kind of how I hope people see my apartment when they visit. Celaena's tastes might run a little flashier than mine and I bet she has a bigger closet than I do but other than that, I think we're both trying to accomplish the same thing -- we want some place that just feels like home.

Now onto the mood boards! I'm going to use little excerpts from the amazing Heir of Fire to explain why I chose what I chose.

"The apartment consisted of two bedrooms with their own bathing rooms, a kitchen, and a great room in which a deep-cushioned couch sprawled before a carved marble fireplace, accented by two oversized velvet armchairs." (pg212)

“Everything else was comfortable, tasteful, as if the apartment were for lounging and nights by the fire. And there were so many books—on shelves, on the tables by the couch, stacked beside the large armchair...” (pg214)

> Dining Room

"The other half of the room was occupied by an oak dining table capable of seating eight, its place settings still laid out: plates of porcelain and silver, flatware that had long since gone dull." (pg212)

"[..] the curtained floor-to-ceiling window spanning the entire length of the great room." (pg214)

"She had selected everything, from the figurines atop the mantel to the green napkins ..." (pg213)

"The table and the stag figurine atop the mantel were the only shreds of proof that she might remember." (pg214)

> Bedroom

“Her bedroom was even more outrageous. It had a massive four-poster bed with a mattress that looks like a cloud and an attached marble-tiled bathing room that possessed its own plumbing system.” (pg214)

"The room was a map of her adventures.." (pg214)

“[…] the wall of the dressing room, staring at the gowns and the displays of jewelry.” (pg214)

So, that's how I picture Celaena's apartment!
