Here are some non-bookish articles I really liked this past month and my latest loves.

1 / October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and yesterday, I donated to the cause in memory of my Mom. Throughout this whole pandemic, I've often thought about my Mom and those last few months with her when we were in and out of the hospitals and seeing doctors every week. I can't imagine what cancer patients and their families must be going through right now juggling that with the fear of COVID. BCRF is currently matching donations by 3x so please take a moment to check it out and consider donating. 2 / On Cupcakes & Cashmere, a contributor shared "How Korean and American Expectations Shaped My Relationship with My Body" and as a Filipino-American, I related so much.
3 / Emily Ratajkowski wrote this eye-opening and moving personal essay over owning her image. And not in the figurative sense but literally. She shares some really disheartening experiences with photographers who believe they own a piece of her.
4 / I freely admit that I loved The Hills while it was on and I super enjoy Lauren's friendship with Whitney Port. So imagine my surprise when they reunited for Whitney's podcast! But I highly recommend watching it on YouTube: Part 1 and Part 2.
5 / I've been a huge Tatiana Maslany fan because of Orphan Black and when I found out she was cast to She-Hulk for a new Disney+ series, I legit squealed.
6 / Just yesterday I found out about a movie called Yellow Rose about a Filipina teen who wants to become a country singer but also deals with tough relevant topics like immigration and deportation as well. I cannot say enough how badly I want to see this movie. (Also it's Filipino American Heritage Month!)
7 / And of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't share a link and reminder to vote when there's only 31 days until the election! On Vote.org, it provides a helpful checklist of what you need to know and do. #BidenHarris2020
Loves
1 / This may be one of the most random, but realest, things I've shared in terms of good purchases. But I was having issues with little gnats due to my apartment being old, the heat, and my neighbors always leaving the front door open. It was driving me crazy so I bought this plug-in insect trap and it actually helped!
2 / I found out about this artist through Instagram and when I saw his Etsy shop, particularly this window collection of European cities, I had to buy the postcard set to decorate my desk with.
3 / Another real moment: my heels are almost always dry and cracked and my number one reason for getting pedicures is for that moment when they use the callous remover. Clearly regular pedicures are a thing of the past (I have gone once though!) so these socks have been a great remedy in the meantime.

(((((((HUGS))))))) for you about your mom. 💜 There is a book blogger, I'm online buddies with, whose nine year old son is fighting leukemia. They can only Skype with family. Thank goodness her husband can work remotely, or she would be totally on her own at the children's hospital. 😞
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up about the insect trap. Every summer we get at least one go around with fruit flies, and this would be great to have in the kitchen. 👍✨
Also, thanks for the heads up about Filipino American Heritage Month. 💜
Those postcards are so lovely! I've been seeing his art on Instagram too, and I really like it.
