What I'm Listening To | January

Each month I'll share five songs I'm loving at the moment and hopefully you'll find a song or two (or all of them!) to love as well.

2018 is off to amazing start with music! At least for me. In the last four weeks, I've found so new many songs to love that I'm sharing 8 songs today instead of my usual 5.

Just for Us - Francis and the Lights | I'm really digging their 80s pop-synth sound and the lead singer's Phil Collins-like voice.

I Only Lie When I Love You - Royal Blood | This is exactly the kind of music I miss hearing.

I Can't Quit - The Vaccines | Last month I mentioned the lack of songs by actual bands and it's like someone heard my prayers. Another goodie!

Feel the Love Go - Franz Ferdinand | This song gives me "Take Me Out" feels, which is probably why I like it so much.

Hurt Somebody - Noah Kahan, Julia Michaels | Ever since "Issues" came out, I feel like I've been seeing Julia Michael's name a lot. But seriously every song she's released, either on her own or as a collaboration, has been SO catchy.

B.O.M.O. - Tatiana Manaois | I am all about this line in the song, "Yeah, I know I could do much better on my own." Luckily the lyric gets repeated a lot and you bet I sing along every time (at least when I'm alone!).

Alaska - Maggie Rogers | A friend sent me this song last week and already, it's my most played song of the month. It's almost ridiculous how often I've listened to it. (There's a cool backstory behind it and it includes Pharrell.)

Vincent - James Blake | I'm a sucker for songs with just piano and vocals. This song is both haunting and soothing and much to my surprise, also a cover. It's originally by Don McLean (best known for "American Pie"). This is such a beautiful rendition.

  1. I'm so happy you put Alaska on my radar - it's so good! And I love Hurt Somebody a whole lot too.
