Links + Loves

Here are some non-bookish articles I really liked this past month and my latest loves.

Links
1 / Barefoot Blonde shared some "French Cult Beauty Products" and it inspired me to re-buy a product I used to use (Bioderma) and try a new one (Avene). So far so good! I may try a couple others on the list.

2 / Self recently wrote about a new blog called Thick Dumpling Skin and as soon as I have time (life is crazy right now!), I want to check it out. It's all about crushing the "outdated notions of Asian beauty" and there's an excerpt from a Filipina writer that I related to 100%.

3 / I usually wouldn't link to a tweet but I just love David Tennant and even though I haven't read anything by Neil Gaiman (yet!), I am here for this photo.

4 / Shonda Rhimes just released her website Shondaland and being the Grey's Anatomy fan that I am, I had to check it out. And of course I went straight to the post about how her shows get their sound and it includes playlists!

5 / I recently, and somewhat impulsively, bought tickets to Iceland for next year and I couldn't be more excited. I really want to see the Northern Lights! Unlocking Kiki shares a whole guide on how to see them.

6 / Vogue's post on "How I Learned to Stop Being a 'Chill Girl' and Start Being Me" post is A+.

7 / Wit and Delight shared 7 ways to treat yourself to a "solo date" as a way to refresh and I just love it. I did some of these things recently (lunched at a cafe alone, wandered around a museum, spa treatments!) and it really does feel amazing. Maybe a concert next? We'll see!

8 / I usually don't post book-related stuff here but the nostalgia I felt while reading this Vox article about the Scholastic Book Fair was too hard to ignore.

Loves

1 / Horn necklaces seem to be a thing right now and I really like the look! So when I saw that one of my favorite Etsy shops was selling a more affordable version of the Missoma one I was looking at, I decided to buy it and I love it. Plus in person it looks more like a crescent moon which I don't mind one bit because hey, I am a Sailor Moon fan.

2 / I was shopping with my BFF at H&M and when she saw me holding this scarf she immediately told me that it's basically my color scheme. (Truth.) Now that it's been cooler in the mornings, I've been using it almost every day.

3 / This is the most I've ever spent on jeans and it was worth every penny. They're super comfy and the fit is amazing. But the best part? Since I'm a Madewell muse, they hemmed the jeans for free and shipped it to my house a little over a week later.

  1. That necklace is adorable! And YES MADEWELL EVERYTHING. Ever since my first pair of their jeans, I cannot even envision putting another brand on my body. So comfortable and such great quality!

  2. Man, that scarf is still one you use today so I'm going to go ahead and say it was such a good buy! But also, I'm a big Avene fan - I've been using their products for years.
