Style Essentials: Sweater Weather

It's officially sweater weather and neither myself nor my closet were ready for the change. I have this tendency to put my summer tops to use all year round and as a result, I have a ton of cardigans. Cute blouse, cardigan, jeans and boots/flats is kind of my uniform. And as I was cleaning out my clothes for the 10th time this year, I realized I have practically no sweaters. I decided to take advantage of some recent sales by adding a few much-needed items to my wardrobe. But of course, also pulling out stuff I already owned.

(Side note: Taking inventory of my closet regularly has been really great for me. It's made me think a lot harder about what I buy, what pieces I want to invest in and what stuff I need to give away because I only wear it once or twice a year.)

So aside from sweaters, fall makes me think of: plaid, leggings, booties and new jackets. Which is exactly what I stocked up on!

Sweaters  Madewell Riverside texture sweater | Loft Mixed media side ribbed sweater
The loose and comfy kinds are my fave

Blazer • Loft Notch blazer
Perfect for transition weather and makes any outfit a little sharper

Leggings • Vince Camuto Seamed back leggings
It's so hard for me to find leggings that fit right and aren't see through at all – these are perfect!

Dress • Wilfred Sebatier dress
I meant to get a dress with sleeves but this was one of the most comfortable dresses I've ever worn. Plus I'm pretty sure I can make it work even when it gets chillier!

Skirt • Shirttail skirt in plaid
I rarely buy skirts but this fit really well and goes with a lot of my clothes already.

Shoes • Franco Sarto Western bootie | J.Crew Cece flats
I already have knee high boots but not enough booties! I got these last month and been wearing them a ton. Then you can never go wrong with neutral colored flats.

  1. Love these additions to your fall (well, year-round) wardrobe! I'm especially loving that skirt. It's super cute, and I'm very into plaid too ;)
