Plot • When Sloane and her family move from New York to Florida, the last thing she expects is to be pulled into a group of friends who have known each other almost all their lives. But she does and they become important to her in a way she's never experienced before.

Characters • Oh Sloane. I adored her feisty nature and the way she cared so deeply for others even when she sucked at showing it (it's part of her charm!). But what made the book truly come alive were the people in her life. We get to meet her family (I loved her dad!) and of course, the 4 new friends she makes, namely twins Vera and Gabe who are the ones she becomes closest to. Vera brings this energy and desire to let go and have fun to Sloane's life whereas Gabe totally brings on the romantic tension with his cute, dry humor and semi-serious nature. Honestly, the dynamic between everyone was so great and so real.

Writing • This is my second Emma Mills book and I continue to be super impressed by her writing. I loved the dialogue and her portrayal of friendship. Like it was seriously on point just how simultaneously easy and complicated friendships can be. Mills made me both laugh and cry in this one and I can't wait for more from her.

Overall feelings • LOVED IT. As in I immediately pre-ordered the book after reading. I can't recommend this one enough.

Do you read or write fanfiction? • Currently, no. But if you were to ask my high school self, the answer would be an enthusiastic yes. I loved reading fanfic, especially for Dawson's Creek, Roswell and Buffy. As for writing, I wrote a Michael/Maria Roswell fanfic once (and no, I have no idea where it is and I don't even remember what it was about!).
