Let's talk about VNYL

About a month ago, I heard about this subscription service called VNYL, which sends curated boxes of up to 3 vinyl records each month depending on the plan you get. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by now that there's a subscription for everything but I genuinely was! It's such a great idea and a great way to build your collection so I immediately signed up. (Sidenote: I did research other ones and there are plenty of options but the aesthetic and concept behind VNYL appealed to me the most.)

The most important thing about getting your tastes right is filling out your profile. It's super thorough but I was happy to fill it out. You can connect your Spotify, Twitter, Instagram, Soundcloud, Last.fm accounts and more. Then they ask for your favorite genres/artists/albums, what you never want to receive, anything that you're on the hunt for and how adventurous you want to be with your curation (I chose "lukewarm" which means I wouldn't mind a few experiments to my collection). Then when you place your order, you can choose from their preset "vibes" or they curate based on your profile. I would've done the latter but then I saw that their #rocktober vibe had The Black Keys, The Arctic Monkeys and Cage the Elephant. So obviously, I had to choose it!  And I couldn't be happier about that. I'm listening to one of them now as I write this.

Next month, I'll probably let them curate for me and see what I get. But for now, I'm super happy with the service. $39 a month for three records is definitely worth it.

If you listen to records and want to expand your collection, you should check this service out!

Do you listen to vinyl? I'd love to know you get your records!

  1. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be signing up for VNYL within November! (Since, you know, thanks to James, I'm going to need to finally buy a record player... which I always wanted to do anyway.) I think it's such a cool idea for a subscription service and I think it sounds like a great deal! (Plus, both you and Danica love it so...)
