Hello 2016!

Hello 2016! I say this every year and I'll say it again, I'm not so great with the whole resolutions thing but I do have some goals I would love to see through.
  • Take better care of myself.  I said this last year and I somewhat accomplished it. I didn't go to the gym as I had planned but I started shopping at Trader Joe's for organic food and was way more conscious of eating clean. Even though I'll never completely give up my sweets, soda and love of fried food -- I do want to continue cooking healthy, eating better and drinking a lot more water. And I must start exercising!
  • Travel more. In 2014, I travelled a ton and while I did some traveling in 2015, it wasn't nearly enough! The wanderlust itch is strong, you guys. I've got a bunch of trips already in mind and I'm determined to make at least 3 of them happen.
  • Do a better job of saving. I've become pretty lax in my saving efforts, especially in the last month! But I want to do better this year. I want to put money in my savings at least once a month. I want to budget more strictly. And I want to be pickier when I'm shopping for myself.
  • New project. Last year's project was starting a new lifestyle-ish blog with my BFF and while we did kick it off, it never stuck. We've decided to officially let it go but I'm hoping we can find ways to collaborate on here together instead. But my new project for 2016 is photography! If you follow me on IG, you know how much I love taking pretty pictures on my iPhone. I bought myself a Sony A6000 last month and my goal is to learn how to use it. I need to step up my photo game!
  • Keep moving forward. This is another goal I'm carrying over from last year because I think it will always be applicable. If I want anything in my life to change, it won't happen unless I take initiative. So I want to challenge myself, move forward and always remember what's important in life (family, friends & being happy!).
As for my bookish goals ...
  • I currently have my physical TBR down to 14 (!) and I couldn't be prouder! But I want that number to be even lower. As in 0. Or okay, maybe 5 might be more realistic.
  • Likewise, my e-TBR is currently at 16 and I'd like to cut that number in half.
  • Reading challenges: Goodreads (175 books) and Flights of Fantasy (35 books).
  • I want to re-read some old favorites, like Me Before You and Tiger Lily, and I'm determined to do finally get to it this year.
  • I want to continue reading a variety of books and keep on being pickier about ARCs.
  • And lastly, continue collaborating and having fun with the blog!
Those are my goals for 2016! What are yours?

  1. I don't do resolutions, but I like your ideas of being pickier with ARCs, saving more, and taking better care of myself. Good luck on reaching your goals!

  2. I think it is amazing -- how low your physical TBR is.

Also - yes yes to saving more money and traveling more. Both of those things are AWESOME!

    Happy new year!

  3. Trader Joe's was my go-to for all food when I was living in Brooklyn! The food is healthier and it's pretty good pricing for NYC too. I miss your lifestyle blog so I really do hope you incorporate some of those types of posts here! I'm also working so hard on saving. I've done a great job since I moved back home but I'm getting married this year so I feel like everything I've saved is about to be spent and I'll have to start over afterward.

  4. I definitely need to start saving more as well! It's one of those things that I haven't really been able to do as well on as I'd like (but that's mostly because I'm working on my debt first). Here's to hoping we save more! Oh, and travel more too!

As for your reading goals, you still have me in awe over how low your TBR is. WOULD THAT MINE WOULD EVER BE THAT LOW. (That's the goal though!) I definitely think you should reread more (I'm a huge advocate for that) ;)
