Weekend fun w/ family + friends

I feel like I've been on a rollercoaster these past two weeks, alternating between good moments and others where I just felt out of sorts with the people in my life. And as can be expected, sometimes it's easier to see the not-so-great times. But this past weekend was just what I needed to get me out of my funk. (At least for now.)

The most important part of my weekend was celebrating my grandmother's 97th birthday. Every time I think about her age, I just can't believe it. We had family from Chicago and California fly in for the party and it was nice to be all together for our grandmother. She was cutely soaking up all the attention. Then I started texting with my cousin in LA, which made me miss her more, but now we're talking about when I can visit again (!) which is something I need to do sooner rather than later. In general, I was hanging out a lot with family this week which probably seems like a normal thing for me (and it is), but it was different having everyone together like this.

Then after a whole day of family, I got last minute texts from Carina and Loren to meet up at the mall and I was so tempted to put on my pajamas and throw myself onto the couch but, I didn't. I kicked my lazy butt into gear and was super glad I met up with them. Sometimes you just need hours long conversations with your best friends.

Anyways, here are my pictures from the party! My family was super embarrassing at the restaurant which had all us cousins cringing and laughing. But deep down, we all think it's fun too. At least I do!

With my uncle, cousin + grandma about to walk into the restaurant // the beautiful cake!
With my grandma // The birthday girl looking cute with her parasol
I love the look on my one cousin's face. He's obviously "why am I related to these people?" ;)  // Another attempted cousins shot
Finally a good picture of the cousins + nephews with the birthday girl
My dad (he's the one front & center) + the uncles // with my mom (on the left) and aunt (my mom's one & only sister)

  2. You have such a lovely family! My weekend was pretty low key, read and blogged a lot. I have the next 2 days off so I don't have to go back to work until Wednesday! :)

  3. That cake is the BEST. Also, your grandmother is amazing - I love the parasol. I totally know how you feel about the embarrassing thing that you secretly love. We had my grandparents' 90th bday this year, and it was totally embarrassing how we took up half the restaurant and they made all of us grandkids carry sparklers like we were five...but I loved it anyway. =)
