Saying Goodbye to the Lux series

As I've mentioned many, many times before, I am a huge fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout and her Lux series is my favorite of all her books. I've been not-so-patiently waiting for Opposition pretty much from the moment I finished reading Origin. But as I expected, it's also bittersweet to know the series is over. Which is why I've been avoiding writing a review. It's too hard and I really don't want to say goodbye! But I guess I must, so instead of a review I'm going to share with you 10 reasons why I love the LUX series in that hopes that you'll either reminisce with me or be convinced to pick up the books yourself.

1. The main character, Katy, is a book blogger!
JLA is definitely one of those authors who openly appreciates her fans (I’ve met her 3 times now and she is ALWAYS lovely!). I’ve always felt that Katy being a book blogger and just her general love of books was a little shout out to us. But aside from that, I love her feistiness, compassion and strength in face of everything she goes through.

2. DAEMON BLACK.
Gorgeous, cocky, devoted, stubborn and loyal Daemon Black. AKA my #1 book boyfriend.

3. Katy and Daemon’s relationship.
I’m a huge fan of the epic romances (especially in fantasy or paranormal) where you just know these two people are so incredibly in love with each other. Beyond a doubt. That’s the feeling I get whenever I read Katy and Daemon’s scenes and probably the reason why I re-read them so often!

4. Chemistry!
This probably could’ve been lumped into #3 but it deserves a category of its own. Whether they’re fighting or talking or making out (and more!), every moment between them just cackles with electricity. Seriously. I just love it.

5. Dawson, Dee, Archer, Luc, Katy’s mom.
Friendships and family are super important to me in a series. Not only do we see that here but it’s
written in a way that makes you feel invested in them. I especially love Archer.

6. There are lots of trilogies out there but 5 books in a series?
Less common but it works here! Each book gets better and better (although Origins is still my favorite) and to be honest, I’m always up for more Daemon and Katy.

7. Okay, I won’t lie - the first time I saw the phrase "douche canoe" ...
... in her books, I was like WHAT. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that phrase before. It used to throw me off a bit but now I’ve come to appreciate and giggle at JLA’s trademark sayings.

8. The Kitten nickname.
Even I get a little warm and fuzzy every time Daemon calls Katy Kitten.

9. Daemon Daemon Daemon.
(Sorry I couldn't help myself.)

10. Such a great ending!
In the last year I’ve felt that the final book can either make or break a series and since I don’t want to spoil you, I will only say that Opposition is a satisfying and fitting end to Lux.

If you love this series as much as I do,
what did you think of the ending?
And if you haven't read them yet,

  1. Thanks for this post! I've been so turned off by the covers of these books (they just look kind of cheesy to me) that I've been avoiding them. So many people have recommended them and seemed to love them, but I couldn't get myself to try them out. This list shows some great reasons why I should start!

  3. Oh, this series! I'm so glad that you + Mel peer pressured me into reading it, because otherwise, I would have totally been missing out. There's so much humor + swoon + fun to be had in these books, and I can't wait to finally read Opposition, which I have to steal back from Mel! I love your reasons, and I just have to say that Daemon is my favorite reason of all ;)
