Summary: Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is go to class and maybe make a few friends. The one thing she never planned on was capturing the attention of Cameron Hamilton - 6"3' of swoon-worthy hotness. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is everywhere, with his charm & witty banter. When ignoring the simmering tension between them becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed. But when Avery starts receiving threats forcing her to face her past, she has no other choice but to acknowledge it. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her? (Adapted goodreads.com)
My thoughts…
I read Wait For You over six months ago and never reviewed it. At the time, I saw New Adult books as a fun escape from reviewing. And I just wanted to enjoy the ride, so to speak. Now I do review them every once in a while and when I read the companion novel to Wait for You, entitled Trust In You, I decided I wanted to write about it. Only because you all need to be introduced to Cameron. (I mean, the story is great too! But Cam is 100% book boyfriend material that can't be missed.)

Wait For You and Trust In You tell the almost exactly the same story, the only difference being the former is told from Avery's point-of-view and the latter from Cameron's. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend reading them right after the other. But in my case, reading Trust In You was like delving into a story about old friends, except with a fresh (and hotter) perspective.

Avery and Cameron literally crash into each other one day while trying not to be late for their astronomy class. He is immediately smitten with her and she all but runs away from him. This pretty much sets the precedent for their relationship. Cameron is gorgeous and can come across as the player-type but he's a deeply caring person who knows what he wants and that's Avery. He's simultaneously relentless and patient in his pursuit of her and they end up forming a friendship first. Avery has a past (no surprise there) which makes her closed-off, wary of everyone and so awkward (but I thought her awkwardness was cute!). And beneath her surface is someone loving and passionate. Someone who wants to live even when her fears overwhelm her. I love their interactions and the beauty they saw in each other.

Do I recommend?: Fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout will definitely enjoy this one and if you like NA, I would recommend picking this up.

Happy reading!

  1. I've only read one J.Lynn NA novel -- Frigid -- and that was a lot of fun. I'm glad to hear that these two companion novels are just as enjoyable!
