Rachel & Carina's Infinite Playlist (43)

RACHEL • "Umbrellas" by Nikki Kummerow
I've been re-watching old episodes of Switched at Birth (if you don't watch this show, you should!) and  okay, I may be fast forwarding to all the Bay & Emmett parts but I can't help it. I love them! And during one of my favorite scenes, this song started playing as Emmett starts to walk towards Bay when he sees her waiting for him. I never noticed the song before (maybe I was too focused on how adorable they are?) but this time around, the first line Nikki Kummerow sings immediately caught my attention: I've got to say that the look on your face drives me crazy. Something about it just hit me and I can probably listen to that first verse alone over and over. I guess because I get it? Sometimes the guy you like can give you this look that is simultaneously annoying but cute and endearing all at once. Le sigh.

CARINA • "Losing You" by Solange
I guess it's an inevitable part of some relationships for things to fizzle out and gradually fade. The question of holding on or letting go then comes to mind. But I'm always the type to hold on until I feel like the other person has already let go and there's nothing left to do but just be.. and let time take care of the lingering feelings..

This song reminds me of that inevitable part, the questions that arise ("tell me the truth boy, am I losing you for good?"), to fight or not ("I don't know why I fight it, clearly we are through"), and to hold on or let go.

On a less emo-note, this video is pretty cool and I'm loving the 80s vibe from the song.

  2. I really like the songs you both chose, though I'll admit to being a little more partial to Umbrellas. I like the sounds of that song a LOT.
