Top Ten Favorite Books I Read Before I Was A Blogger

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, where bloggers share their top ten answers every week.
(and I included a quote I love from each one!)
  1. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure."
  2. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafron
"Books are mirrors: you only see in them what you already have inside you."
  3. The Samurai's Garden by Gail Tsukiyama
"Sometimes you can’t let go of the past without facing it again."
  4. The Mortal Instruments (Books #1-3) by Cassandra Clare
"Just kissing? How quickly you dismiss our love." Oh Jace :)
  5. A Time For Dancing by Davida Wills Hurwin
No quote but I will say this the first book that ever made me cry.
  6. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
"Maybe, sometimes, it's easier to be mad at the people you trust because you know they'll always love you, no matter what."
  7. The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa
"A problem isn't finished just because you've found the right answer."
  8. Divergent by Veronica Roth
"I have a theory that selflessness and bravery aren't all that different."
  9. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
  10. One Day by David Nicholls
"If you're my friend I should be able to talk to you but I can't, and if I can't talk to you, well, what is the point of you? Of us?"
What are some of your favorite pre-blogging books?

  1. The Shadow of the Wind! I seriously love love love that book. One of the best I've read in many years.

It's been a long time since I read Ann Brashears's books, but I remember really liking the first two.

  4. I read all of the HP books but the last one before becoming a blogger. I loved them when I first read them and I know I'll love them even more when I get around to re-reading them (which really needs to be soon).

    Happy TTT!

  5. I just bought Shadow of the Wind from the used bookstore, a friend recommended to me. We have read a lot of the same books before blogging, I read both TMI and Divergent too!

  9. I have Paulo Cohelo on my list too! I haven't read The Alchemist, but I've heard great things about it. I completely forgot about Ann Brashares. I remember loving that series in middle school/high school. I adored the portrayal of friendships and I loved how unique each characters was.

  10. The only book from your list that I read before blogging was City of Bones - actually the first three - but it was very slightly before blogging, and I think those three books were what inspired me to publish my thoughts about blogging. But on a now-defunct Tumblr. And it was awful! But hooray for growth, right??

I want to read lots of these, particularly the Zafron books. I think I would really like those and some great friends have recommended those to me.

  14. YAY FOR DIVERGENT! That's obviously one of my favorite series EVER, and I read it in the early days of my blog.

But I too read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants prior to blogging, and I really do love that series. There's something about such a strong, lasting friendship...
