My Experience with Rebag

As you all know, I love bags and I've invested in luxury designer bags before like Louis Vuitton and Gucci, which I paid full price for. Even though they were expensive, it was a price that I (and my wallet) could live with. But my dream bag has always been Chanel. When I first started working in 2005, I couldn't imagine spending that much money on a purse and by the time I was in a financially better position to do so, the price doubled and now it's tripled! In other words, I don't see myself buying a full-price Chanel bag anytime soon, if ever.

But I still really wanted one.

Aside from wanting the classic flap bag (I tried it on Paris and it's beautiful!), my first dream Chanel bag was the Caviar Quilted Medallion Tote in black which I first saw Lauren Conrad use on The Hills. It was discontinued years ago but that didn't stop me from looking it up fairly often to see if it would come back or to see what was in the pre-owned market. I was always wary of the latter but it was actually this post on Purse Blog, a source I trust, that convinced me to seriously consider it.

And that's how I found myself on Rebag browsing their selection and finding the exact bag I wanted in excellent condition and under $2,000. I decided to take the plunge and I couldn't be happier that I did! I thought I would share my experience in using their service because (1) I definitely plan to buy more through them and (2) I understand how nerve-wracking it can be to spend a lot of money on an item you're only seeing through pictures online. Hopefully this will help!

Why Rebag?
I first heard of Rebag years ago when it was still called Trendlee (funnily enough, it was because of Lo Bosworth that I found out about them!). There are a lot of used luxury sites to choose from but I went with Rebag because they were consistently mentioned on "best online consignment store" lists, I didn't see any bag authentication drama associated with their name, they have physical stores now and the list goes on.

Their website
Their site is minimal, clean, and super easy-to-use. (As a web designer, I genuinely like their design a lot!) I definitely relied on their high resolution photos taken from many angles, descriptions, and clear labeling (for example, I only looked at bags labeled with "excellent" or "pristine" condition) to help me make my choice.

Personal service
I was clearly looking for the medallion tote since that's all I searched for and I saved the bag I was most likely going to buy to my favorites too. That same day, I got an email from someone on their customer support team asking if I had any questions about the bag. She responded to my emails quickly and followed up with me again once I made the purchase and again once I received it in the mail to make sure I was happy. I was a little taken aback by all the attention (only because I couldn't think of any other service I've tried that's done that!) but at the same time, I super appreciated their level of concern for their customers.

The actual bag
It was perfect and far exceeded my expectations! It was even more beautiful in person compared to the pictures. Prior to ordering, I had looked up tips on what to look out for to make sure a bag is real such as the serial number on the authentication card and in the bag itself, and where it's made from. This is something you should look into regardless of where you decide to buy your pre-owned bag from. For me, it was also reassuring to receive the original Chanel card along with the purse, even if it didn't include the original dust bag. It completely passed my inspection! But FYI, you can't take a bag purchased at a consignment store to a Chanel boutique for verification (I asked) and if for whatever reason you're unhappy with your order, you can return it to Rebag as long as you email them within 2 days of delivery. But honestly, I completely trust their authentication process.

In short, my experience with Rebag was great and I can't wait to use them again!

  1. The bag you chose is absolutely stunning both in your photos and in person! I still remember Lauren carrying it around on The Hills too- how funny that you found out about Rebag from another Laguna Beach alum!

  3. Thank you for this review! I have like 30 tabs open bouncing between consignment sight. I don’t know which one to “trust” as I could only find reviews from people who were trying to sell. Not people trying to buy like us. I’m going with rebag now because the purse looks beautiful and you had a good experience. Thanks again!
