SS&D Surprise Party! Why I Love this Series + Giveaway

Welcome, ladies and gents, to the Something Strange and Deadly Surprise Party! Together, Alexa of Alexa Loves Books and I have organized a full week of posts to celebrate the release of Strange and Ever After, the third and final book in Susan Dennard's amazing series. We'll be sharing our reviews, thoughts on the series overall and some other fun posts too! But today, we're going to be sharing the reasons why we love this series, as well as some of our favorite things about it.

Why I Loved It
A series about zombies in the 1800s? How are you not curious about that sort of premise? It certainly intrigued me and I was hooked from the moment I began reading Something Strange & Deadly. It had  one awesome heroine in Eleanor,  swoon-worthy moments (um, hello Daniel Sheridan!) and it was action-packed as they battled zombies. It combined paranormal elements, romance and a hint of historical fiction seamlessly. Not to mention, I just loved all the characters! And it's a series that honestly just got better and better with each newly released book. So in case you were wondering, Strange & Ever after is my favorite of the trilogy. And speaking of favorites --

Favorite Character
Eleanor Fitt. From the start I loved how she didn't succumb to what was normal for a "lady in society". She's someone who speaks her mind openly and stands up for what she believes in.

Favorite Scene
The first time Eleanor and Daniel kiss. (And before he ruins the moment by saying it was a mistake!)

Favorite Quote
  • “Miss Fitt, you know curiosity gets men killed." I grinned. "Then I daresay it’s good I’m a woman." (There's that Eleanor Fitt sass that I love!)
  • “Real love isn’t about drama or heartbreak. Real love just is.” - A Darkness Strange and Lovely (I cheated and chose two but I really love this one!)

  1. I was just over at Alexa's to see her post, and I love seeing your favorite scenes and characters as well! I just read Something Strange and Deadly and loved it (I definitely agree that the premise is so unique and different that I wanted to read the book and see how it all came together) and I am picking up A Darkness Strange and Lovely now, so I was really excited to see this series going on! Can't wait to see what posts are next!
