The Hunger Games!

You should know that I love this series.  At the time, it was unlike anything I had ever read and it made me fall in love with the whole YA genre all over again.  Katniss was by no means your typical female protagonist and I loved Peeta's role in her life (sorry Gale fans!).  So when it was announced that they were making a movie adaptation - I was not thrilled.  Movies have a way of never portraying the books correctly (aside from Harry Potter).  And when they announced who had been cast in the movie, I was even more convinced that this movie would suck.  You can ask any of my friends.. I was against almost every single actor chosen.  That said...

I totally loved this movie! (Jennifer Lawrence.. I never should've doubted you!)

She really got to the heart of Katniss and did the character justice.  Some of my favorite scenes were the moments with her sister, the Reaping, when she became known as the "girl on fire", her evaluation, Cinna (I thought Lenny Kravitz was a strange choice at first but he was great!), Effie (she provided some much needed subtle humor), Rue (OMG that scene) and more.  They captured so many details as I had imagined it.  I'll admit, it wasn't perfect (*ahem* Liam Hemsworth and the chemistry between Katniss & Peeta could use some work) but overall, I was SO happy with how the movie turned out.

If you're a fan of the books (and even if you're not), you should definitely see this movie.

Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.*

*Sorry, I couldn't help myself :)
